Stone’s Litho Crayons make expressive lines and produce rich blacks.
Designed for lithography, these crayons are very popular as drawing materials for many other art applications, including rubbings. Extremely smooth for drawing, Stone’s Litho Crayons have very little drag. They’re also extremely lightfast.
The crayons are available in three sizes — ½” diameter, ¼” diameter, and a 2″ square tablet. A variety of hardness levels (1 being the softest and 7 being the hardest) cater to a variety of styles and allow degrees of shading. All perform beautifully.
The ½” diameter crayons sharpen easily. Available in five hardness levels, they stand up to more more forceful applications.
The ¼” diameter crayons also sharpen easily and are ideal for everything from general work to the most delicate details. Designed to be used with a holder (providing more usable crayon), they’re available in five hardness levels.
Perfect for broad tonal drawing and textures, Stone’s square tablet crayons measure 2″ square and are available in three hardness levels.
Intricate detail and subtle inflections come to life with Charbonnel inks. The top choice of the most exacting printmakers, Charbonnel inks feature pigments chosen for their low acidity and exceptional lightfastness.
Blended with top-quality oils and carefully milled to ensure trouble-free printing, these are the inks of choice for exquisite, lasting works of art.
The range of Charbonnel colours has been redesigned by our laboratory to increase their qualities and obtain a more balanced colour chart. Some colours have been improved in terms of power, wiping and siccative properties and ligntfastness. New colours such as gold and silver have been added.
Available in 60ml and 200ml.

Charbonnel Aqua Wash Etching Inks are water-washable, with an oil emulsion that allows work similar to traditional solvent-based inks.
Made from extra-fine quality pigments, these etching inks are very lightfast and permanent when dry, and excellent for all techniques, including intaglio, relief, etching, and woodcut on linoleum, monotype, aquatint, and more.
Formulated especially for artists and students working in groups, Charbonnel Aqua Wash Inks clean up without solvents, and are non-toxic, odorless, and easy to wipe.
Instruments, tools, and plates do not get rusty when using Aqua Wash Inks because the inks do not contain water. They dry slowly, at the same rate assolvent-based inks.

Contains: judea bitumen, dammar resin, wax.
Dry extract: 100%
Finish: opaque matt
Hardness: hard, not quite as hard as Charbonnel hard black ball ground.
Consistency: paste
Characteristics: The matt black finish obtained makes etching work very clear.
How To Use: Wrapped in a piece of taffeta which serves as a filter, the ball is rubbed on the pre-heated metal plate. Dab on the ground to obtain an even surface before smoking.
Plate Cleaning: Before applying these grounds, it is imperative that all grease be removed from the plate. To do this, thin some Marly white with a small quantity of water and rub the plate with a soft cloth or a piece of cotton. Rinse under flowing water. Pour a soured solution of vinegar and salt on the plate. Rinse once again. Dry rapidly. Avoid putting fingers on the plate whilst carrying out these operations.
Hard Grounds: Once the ground is applied and dry, the picture is etched with a hard point in order to expose the metal beneath the ground. The plate is then placed in a bath of acid to erode the exposed metal. Once the required bite depth has been attained, the plate should be taken out of the acid bath solution and dried and the ground removed with the appropriate thinner.
Contains: judea bitumen, pitch resin, tallow, beeswax.
Dry extract: 52%
Finish: satin opaque
Hardness: supple
Consistency: paste
Characteristics: Soft lines and textural effects.
How To Use: A painting dabber is recommended for application. It is applied hot.

Soft Grounds: Soft grounds protect the plate. They are non-drying grounds, applied with a painting dabber or roller. Textures and materials pressed into their non-drying surface will lift off, leaving the metal bared, ready for the bite of the acid. The plate must be heated before application. The “Pencil Method” consists of drawing with a hard point on “laid” paper applied over the soft ground. The paper sticks to the drawn parts. After the bite of the acid, a pencil stroke effect is obtained.

Palette Knives are blunt with a slightly flexible steel blade and no sharpened cutting edge. They are used in place of a brush for applying paint colors, paste, pigments, and so forth directly onto the canvas or painting surface. Between the handle and the blade there is usually a large crank, to keep the artist’s hand off the paint surface. Painting knives come in a multitude of styles, shapes, and sizes.
